5-day Salkantay Trekking adventure to Machu Picchu!
Take the route less traveled to Machu Picchu on a multi-day trek from Cusco. Hike for five days on the Salkantay Trek, a scenic alternative to the more traditional Inca Trail, and visit the amazing ruins of Machu Picchu (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Pass imposing glaciers, lush tropical valleys and high mountain jungle terrain, taking in spectacular views of the natural landscape at every turn. You’ll camp under the gaze of Salkantay Mountain, climb to Huayracpampa Pass, hike past stunning waterfalls on the way to Llucmabamba and board the train for Aguas Calientes before touring Machu Picchu!

Salkantay Tour Itinerary

Day 1: CUSCO - SALKANTAYPAMPA
Start your adventure with an early hotel pick-up, followed by a delightful breakfast in Mollepata. From there, we’ll head to Soraypampa (3,850 masl), where you’ll meet our muleteers and horses, ready to carry the camping equipment as we begin our journey to the stunning Humantay Lagoon (4,200 masl).
After exploring the turquoise waters of the lagoon, we’ll return to Soraypampa and set off for our base camp at Salkantaypampa. Awaiting your arrival, our talented cooks will serve a hearty lunch. Surrounded by breathtaking views of the snow-capped Salkantay, you’ll enjoy afternoon tea and a delicious dinner under the Andean stars.

Start your day with a warm cup of coca tea, soaking in breathtaking mountain views over breakfast. Embark on a 3-hour trek to the majestic Salkantay Pass, reaching 4,600 meters above sea level. After conquering this incredible peak, descend to Wayrac Machaq for a well-deserved lunch. The journey continues into the lush high jungle, where towering trees adorned with bromeliads and orchids create a magical canopy over winding streams. End the day at the serene second campsite, surrounded by nature’s beauty.

Day 3: CHAULLAY - LUCMABAMBA
Begin your day with an early breakfast before setting off on a 3-hour hike through the enchanting cloud forest. Along the way, take in the stunning scenery of flowing rivers and cascading waterfalls. After a well-deserved lunch, continue for another 3 hours until you reach the Lucmabamba campsite, where you can immerse yourself in the fascinating world of coffee plantations and their production processes.
For those seeking extra relaxation, a visit to the soothing hot springs of Cocalmayo, located just 30 minutes from the camp, is an excellent option. (Transportation and entrance fees not included; please inform us in advance to arrange this optional activity.)

Day 4: LUCMABAMBA - LLACTAPATA - AGUAS CALIENTES
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, embark on your hike to Llactapata, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding landscape and Machu Picchu. Continue your journey downhill to Hidroeléctrica for a well-deserved lunch, then proceed for another 3-hour walk to Aguas Calientes. Tonight, unwind and relax at your hotel, ready for the next adventure.

Day 5: MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO
Following breakfast, we board the buses to Machu Picchu to witness the breathtaking sunrise. Enjoy an exclusive guided tour of the site’s most iconic spots. Afterward, return to Aguas Calientes for a relaxing lunch before catching the train and bus back to Cusco.
