Following the latest ministerial reform, entrance tickets are strictly one-way and cannot be combined. Here is the honest, boots-on-the-ground reality so you don't arrive in Peru with the wrong pass.

Route 2A and Route 1B are the two most frequently confused tickets. Here is what each one looks like on the mountain.

You climb to the classic terrace for the postcard photo with your guide. Then, you descend into the main city gates, explore the royal palaces, observe the precision masonry at the Temple of the Three Windows, and stand in awe before the Sacred Rock.

You take a dedicated upward path along the high agricultural terraces. The photography angle is extraordinary, offering a bird's-eye vantage over the ruins. However, the one-way barriers direct you straight to the exit loop—you will not enter the interior corridors or temples.
Do not let sold-out government calendars ruin your Peruvian journey. Daspe Travel manages nominative permits directly with the Ministry of Culture with 100% financial protection.
The gold standard day departure. Official Circuit 2 permits, roundtrip scenic expedition train, Consettur bus passes, and licensed collegiate guide from Cusco.
Sleep in the valley or Aguas Calientes before entering the citadel early in the morning. Includes Pisac, Ollantaytambo, scenic train, and Circuit 2 guaranteed.
Fixed $85 USD flat rate per party (up to 4 guests). Collegiate guide meets you right at the train station platform or sanctuary entrance gate.
Send us your tentative dates on WhatsApp. Our operations desk checks official ministerial allocations in 3 minutes and reserves your nominative permits before you commit.
Circuit 2 is the complete, classic experience: it includes the iconic high postcard photo from the Guardian's House AND a 2.5-hour walk inside the ancient urban stone ruins (Temple of the Sun, Sacred Plaza, Sacred Rock, Industrial Quarter). Circuit 1 is strictly a panoramic viewpoint route along the upper agricultural terraces: you get the postcard photo, but you are legally prohibited from descending into the stone temples below.
Yes. Route 1B (Upper Terrace) gives you the classic postcard angle overlooking Huayna Picchu and the citadel. However, once you take your photos on the upper platform, the trail loops directly out to the exit. You do not touch or walk through the stone city.
Circuit 2 (Route 2A or 2B) is overwhelmingly the best choice for first-time travelers. Over 85% of visitors want to explore the ceremonial temples, touch the Inca stonework, and walk the residential quarters. Circuit 1 should only be chosen if Circuit 2 is completely sold out or if you specifically booked the strenuous 4-hour hike up Machu Picchu Mountain (Route 1A).
The Peruvian Ministry of Culture caps total daily entries to preserve the sanctuary. Because Circuit 2 is universally recognized as the gold standard ticket, international agencies and tour operators lock Circuit 2 slots 60 to 90 days ahead. Route 2A (Clásico Completo) is typically the first ticket category to reach zero on the government booking portal.
Independent travelers searching the government portal often see red zero dates because individual tourist quotas are separate from licensed agency allocations. As a collegiate DIRCETUR-licensed operator in Cusco, Daspe Travel reserves official nominative permits with client passports directly through the Ministry of Culture system for our all-inclusive train day tours and multi-day packages.
