An isolated single-day trek traversing genuine Incan stone masonry and agricultural infrastructure. Starting at the high Andean farming hamlet of Tauca near Chinchero, the trail climbs to a windy 4,200m mountain pass before descending through a restored Incan staircase canyon into Huchuy Qosqo (“Little Cusco”). Built as a personal estate for Incan Emperor Viracocha in the 15th century, the site features rare two-story stone-and-adobe structures, extensive terraces, and sheer cliff views overlooking the Urubamba River basin.
Drive to high puna village of Tauca. Ascend gradually to a 4,200m mountain pass with sweeping views of the snow-covered Vilcanota range. Descend via paved Incan royal stairways into Huchuy Qosqo citadel. Guided exploration, followed by descent to Lamay and return transfer to Cusco.
